Best Amazon FBA Label Printers

FBA Journey

As an Amazon FBA seller, labels are an important part of your business. And how do you go about printing the labels you need? If your answer is “laser printer”, then it’s time to upgrade to a thermal label printer.

A dedicated label printer can help you save time and money – as long as you’re willing to take the initial plunge. And if you’ve never bought a thermal printer before, I have three thermal label printers I can recommend.

Why Use Thermal Label Printers?

Thermal label printers are handy little tools for any Amazon FBA seller. They are small enough to fit on your workstation, right next to your computer. Other than their space-saving design, they also have other benefits to offer:

  • High Print Speed – Thermal printers print faster than other printers. It takes the printer’s printing heads milliseconds to create images, so you get faster LPS, or lines per second.
  • Low Printing Costs – Thermal printers work unlike any other printer, as they use heat to print text or images into your labels. For this reason, they don’t need toner, cartridges, or ink for printing. With a thermal printer, you will only need to buy the paper/labels, thus saving money on supplies.
  • Low Maintenance Costs – Thermal printers have fewer moving parts when compared to other printers. This makes them durable and extends their lifespans. Since there aren’t many components that can break-down, your maintenance costs will remain low.
  • Better Functionality – Instead of printing multiple sheets of labels at once – like with a laser printer – a thermal label printer will print one label at a time. This will help you save time as your business grows and reduce the waste that results from partially printed sheets.
  • Improved Quality of Print – The print quality from using a thermal printer is of better quality and more durable than other printers. Since there is no ink used in the printing, the print will be more legible and resistant to the elements.

DYMO Label Printer – LabelWriter 450

The Dymo LabelWriter 450 is one of the more popular offerings on Amazon when it comes to thermal label printers. It’s not the most affordable option – the pricing starts over $400, but it can be bought used for under $300. This thermal label printer is useful for printing stickers or Amazon barcodes (Fulfillment Network Stock Keeping Unit or FNSKU) and standard 4″ x 6′ shipping labels, but it will not print labels larger than 4”x 6”.

The proprietary DYMO Label software lets you create customized labels directly from your computer, and also allows printing from popular software products, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Mac Address Book, and Google contacts. I’ve used the software when I need to print a replacement UPC label, and it’s easy to use.

The Dymo 450 is also the thermal printer I use for my Amazon business. I had several years of experience with these printers in another industry, and I’ve used 2 of them for several years now in my Amazon business, so they’re an easy printer to recommend.
